Emilia Burano is a family-run lace and linen house tracing its origins to the 1890s, when its namesake, great-grandmother Emilia, learned traditional Burano needle lace as a child. The Ammendola family, now in its fourth generation under creative director Lorenzo Ammendola, opened its first small lace boutique on Burano in 1970 after years of selling at local markets. The original shop and workshop occupy a building dating to the 1700s on Burano's Piazza Galuppi. The house has since expanded from lacework into bespoke fine linens - bed and table linen, cashmere throws, silk lingerie - and operates a second flagship in central Venice near the Teatro La Fenice.
