Evo

Evo was founded in 2001 by Bryce Phillips, a former competitive skier, as an online-only ski and snowboard retailer. It opened its first physical location in 2005, in a converted warehouse in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood, and later moved within Fremont to a larger, roughly 10,000-square-foot space on Stone Way. That store expanded well past its ski-and-snowboard start, adding surf, skate, mountain bike and camping gear, and built out community-facing features rather than just a sales floor: two in-house restaurants and All Together, described as Seattle's only indoor skatepark, offering lessons, camps and pay-to-skate drop-in sessions. The Fremont store functions as much as a gathering spot for the city's action-sports community as a retail outlet, hosting events tied to its skate, ski and bike lines. Evo later expanded the format to other cities, including Portland, keeping the same mix of hard-goods retail and in-store programming that distinguished the original Seattle location from a standard sporting-goods shop.
