What Flattered is known for
Swedish footwear and leather goods brand launched in Stockholm in spring 2013 by Gustav Lidén, Pingis Hadenius, Hanna Kwiatkowska Thisner and Isabella Löwengrip, first known for its almond-toe indoor ballet flat with a wool insole.
Flattered was founded in Stockholm in the spring of 2013 by four co-founders: Gustav Lidén, Pingis Hadenius, Hanna Kwiatkowska Thisner and Isabella Löwengrip. The starting idea combined a Scandinavian habit — removing shoes at the door to keep snow and mud out of the house — with co-founder Hanna Kwiatkowska Thisner's observation that stylish indoor slippers existed for men but were hard to find for women. Their answer was an indoor ballet flat with an almond-shaped toe and a soft woollen insole, which became the brand's first product and signature piece. Early orders from NK, one of Sweden's most prominent department stores, helped the brand gain traction quickly, and major department stores in other countries followed. The company describes 2017 as the year it found its current design identity, after Anna Johansson joined as creative director. Flattered has since expanded from ballet flats into a wider range of footwear and leather bags, still designed in Stockholm but manufactured in Italy, Portugal and Spain rather than in Sweden. It remains positioned as a contemporary Scandinavian footwear label built around comfort-driven basics rather than seasonal fashion pieces.
