Contemporary art from San Gimignano to Paris

Why it belongs in ORBIS

Contemporary art gallery founded in a former cinema in San Gimignano in 1990 by Mario Cristiani, Lorenzo Fiaschi and Maurizio Rigillo; now spans locations including Beijing, Havana, Sao Paulo and Paris, where it occupies 108 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore.

Galleria Continua began in 1990 when three friends - Mario Cristiani, Lorenzo Fiaschi and Maurizio Rigillo - opened a gallery in a disused cinema in San Gimignano, a small walled town in Tuscany. It has since expanded into a network of spaces including Beijing, Les Moulins (outside Paris), Havana, Rome, Sao Paulo, and two Paris addresses - an original space in the Marais and a newer one at 108 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore, opened in 2024. Represented artists include Antony Gormley, Ai Weiwei, JR, and Michelangelo Pistoletto.
