What Goutal is known for

Paris perfume house founded by Annick Goutal, who trained seven years in Grasse before opening her first Paris boutique and releasing Eau d'Hadrien; now trades as Goutal Paris under Amorepacific ownership.

Annick Goutal, born in Aix-en-Provence, trained for seven years under perfumer Henri Sorsana of Robertet in Grasse before launching her own line. She opened her first Paris boutique with three fragrances - Folavril, Passion, and Eau d'Hadrien - and formed Annick Goutal Parfums in 1980. Eau d'Hadrien, evoking the Roman emperor Hadrian, became her best-known creation and remains a signature scent. Goutal died of breast cancer in 1999 at age 53, having created 25 fragrances; her daughter, Camille Goutal, continued as perfumer. In 2011 the Amorepacific Group acquired the brand, which was subsequently renamed Goutal Paris.
