Headwaters Canoes has built wood-canvas canoes in Wakefield, Quebec for over 35 years, using eastern white cedar and white ash gunwales fastened with brass tacks and screws rather than adhesives. Its Prospector models are built true to the original Chestnut Canoe Company specifications, and the shop currently has a 12-24 month waiting list for recanvas work.
