What Hombo Shuzo is known for
Hombo Shuzo has operated in Kagoshima since Hombo Kyoemon and his son founded the company in 1872, moving from cotton and rapeseed oil trading into shochu production in 1909. The family-run maker now distills sweet potato shochu alongside whisky and wine at sites across Kagoshima, including Yakushima, selling its Sakurajima and Kishogura labels directly.
