What IKKS is known for

French fashion brand founded 1987 in La Séguinière by Gérard Le Goff with stylist Sonia Provost, launched as children's/teen clothing with adult-inspired styling. Added womenswear in 1999 and menswear in 2003; now owned by LBO France's White Knight fund.

IKKS was founded in 1987 in La Séguinière, in the Pays de la Loire region of western France, by Gérard Le Goff, working with stylist Sonia Provost. The brand launched as a children's and teenage clothing line distinguished by borrowing adult fashion codes — darker colors and more structured silhouettes than typical kidswear of the period. That styling, described by French fashion press as carrying a rock-inflected edge, proved appealing beyond its original age bracket, and IKKS expanded into womenswear in 1999 and menswear in 2003, becoming a full family-wardrobe brand spanning three generations under one label. IKKS spent a period as part of Groupe Zannier, one of France's larger apparel manufacturing and licensing groups, before being sold in July 2015 to the White Knight fund managed by private equity firm LBO France. The brand remains positioned in the French mid-market, distinguished from mass fast fashion by design continuity traced back to Le Goff and Provost's original children's-line aesthetic, now applied across adult ready-to-wear collections as well.
