Why it belongs in ORBIS
Inveloveritas redraws the geometries and motifs of Sardinian craft for contemporary clothing and objects. Giuseppe Scalas and Maria Francesca Maniga founded the label and made its knitwear, stoles, foulards together between 2015 and 2023. Graphics are designed digitally, screen printed by hand, then painted on the cloth. The label works a local supply chain and describes its output as made in Italy.
Inveloveritas is a fashion and design label that reworks Sardinian tradition for the present. Giuseppe Scalas and Maria Francesca Maniga founded it, and between 2015 and 2023 they produced the knitwear, the stoles and the foulards together with every drawing used on the furnishing pieces. Since 2023 they have worked separately. The method sits between the studio and the workshop. Graphics are drawn digitally, printed by artisanal screen printing, then finished with hand painting on the cloth. Work that begins on paper can end as digital embroidery. The patterns come from the geometries, motifs, weaves, colours of Sardinian art and craft, redrawn so they can be worn and used rather than only looked at. Maniga trained in pattern cutting and brings the hand painting and the loud colour. Scalas draws by hand and on screen, and his work leans on geometric forms and modular decorative motifs. The label keeps its supply chain as local as it can and describes the output as made in Italy. Collaboration runs through it. Inveloveritas has held workshops with artists and artisans and has taken part in the Wall of Dolls and in Women United Against Violence, projects on the position of women. The range covers shawls, scarves, T-shirts, beach cloths, paper goods.
