Iris van Herpen is a Dutch fashion designer, born in the small town of Wamel, who studied at the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts and presented her first collection in 2007. Unlike most haute couture houses, her working base is not Paris but Amsterdam, where she runs her atelier with a small team, even as she shows her collections on the official Paris Haute Couture Week calendar. Her work is defined by fusing traditional couture craftsmanship with technology - 3D modelling, digital fabrication and laser cutting. She has collaborated across disciplines with figures including architect Philip Beesley, designer Neri Oxman, musician Bjork and choreographer Sasha Waltz.
