Kaxilda is an associative bookshop and cultural meeting space in the Amara-Easo district of Donostia/San Sebastián, organized around what its own materials describe as a mission to 'bite words, nourish thought' (morder las palabras, alimentar el pensamiento). Rather than a conventional retail bookstore, it operates as a community-run library and gathering space, curating a catalogue weighted toward small and independent publishers working in critical theory, feminist writing, anarchist history, and political critique, alongside titles on surveillance, class analysis, and indigenous resistance movements. The shop maintains its own in-house publishing imprint, Editorial Kaxilda, extending its role from bookseller to publisher of the same critical-culture material it stocks. Attached to the bookshop is Kantina, a restaurant and social space created and run in partnership with two local collectives, Fede Pacha & Co and Biba Ardoak, which the project describes as 'a space to nourish bodies, lives, and struggles' — folding food and hospitality into the same political-education mission as the books themselves. This combination of independent publishing, curated bookselling, and a collectively run social space distinguishes Kaxilda from a standard neighborhood bookshop: it functions as a hub for the city's small-press and activist reading culture as much as a place to buy books.
