What L’Atelier du Chocolat is known for

L'Atelier du Chocolat was founded in Bayonne in 1951 by Joseph and Madeleine Andrieu, who opened a combined pastry, chocolate, ice cream and catering shop. Their son Serge Andrieu and his wife took over the business in 1982. Serge is credited with developing the house's signature product, the Bouquet de Chocolat - thin chocolate leaves molded, broken and reassembled into a decorated cone. In 2006, L'Atelier du Chocolat opened a museum at its central Bayonne workshop dedicated to the history of cocoa. The brand remains tied to Basque chocolate tradition - Bayonne is generally credited as the first French city to receive cocoa - and today sells chocolate bouquets and gourmand gifts through its Bayonne boutiques and online.
Best for — Bayonne chocolate bouquets that shape Basque cocoa tradition into flower form.
