Bonnat

Bonnat was founded in 1884 in Voiron, France, by Felix Bonnat, born 1861, who had trained as a liqueur-maker, confectioner and dessert maker before turning to chocolate. By the late 1880s his Paves de Voiron had become an early success. The company remains family-run and today is headed by Cecile and Stephane Bonnat. It was Raymond Bonnat who, in the early 1980s, began producing the single-origin chocolate bars the house is now best known for - at the time a novel approach that helped establish single-origin bars as a benchmark of chocolate-making skill.
