Le Labyrinthe En-Champ-Thé

Le Labyrinthe En-Champ-Thé sits at 1,100 metres on the volcanic slopes of Grand Coude, in Saint-Joseph on Réunion Island, where a family estate has grown tea and geranium rosat since 2005 — reviving a tea-growing tradition on the island that had largely disappeared. It bills itself as the only tea-plantation labyrinth in Réunion: a hedge maze planted directly through the tea rows, so a visit doubles as harvest terrain and game.

Guided tours run twice a day, at 10am and 2pm, ending in a tasting, while the maze itself stays open for free exploration from 9:30am to 5pm. A dedicated "Tea Fighting" session lets visitors play tea sommelier for a blind tasting of five of the estate's teas. The boutique sells what's grown and made on-site: black tea grand cru, geranium-infused iced tea, hydrolats, essential oils, jams, syrups and shortbread, with delivery across Réunion and to mainland France.

The estate holds organic certification (Eurofeuille) along with France's Tourism Quality label and a National Park Spirit designation, underlining that this is a serious agricultural operation dressed as a visitor attraction rather than the reverse — the maze is a way into the tea, not a substitute for it.
