Dharmsala Tea Company's family history in the Kangra Valley goes back to 1882, when its founders first planted tea in a district whose gazette, even then, rated the local leaf 'superior to that produced in any other part of India.' Six generations later, the same family still grows and manufactures the tea on site at its Dharamshala facility, in the Himalayan foothills of Himachal Pradesh, with the range certified organic throughout. The core is Kangra black and green tea, a regional style distinct from Darjeeling or Assam, made from leaf grown on the family's own gardens; alongside it sits oolong and white tea and an expanding line of Ayurvedic wellness blends, developed in partnership with yoga and wellness practitioners rather than formulated purely in-house. The company frames its work around 'simplicity, naturalness, purity, love, and sustainability,' and extends that ethos into its packaging, where it supports the revival of traditional Kangra miniature painting by using the art form on its tins and boxes rather than generic branding.
