Temi Tea Estate

Temi Tea Estate has grown tea on a south-facing slope in South Sikkim since 1969, making it one of the state's defining single-garden operations, and the estate earned organic certification in 2008 after converting its cultivation practices over time. The garden produces orthodox black, green and white teas processed on-site rather than bought in as bulk leaf, with a range that includes a First Pluck spring harvest and named blends such as Awaken and Temi Tea Special alongside its standard grades. Two dedicated outlets carry the full lineup: Temi Tea Hut on MG Marg in Gangtok, East Sikkim's main shopping street, and a second outlet in Jorethang, closer to the estate itself in South Sikkim. Both function as retail extensions of a single growing operation rather than a wider distribution network, keeping the tea's traceability back to one hillside intact from plucking to the shelf. The estate is managed today by MRC Agrotech Ltd and runs an e-commerce platform alongside the physical outlets, along with partnerships with local government and industry bodies that reflect Sikkim's broader push toward organic agriculture across the state. For a region better known internationally for its organic vegetables and cardamom than its tea, Temi remains a reference single-estate name, its identity built on one slope planted more than fifty years ago rather than a blended, multi-garden supply chain.
