What Le Petit Souk is known for
Children's gift and decor chain founded 2005 in Lille by Mathilde Chailloux; Maisons du Monde founder Xavier Marie joined in 2017 to help it grow to 80-plus stores across France, Belgium and Italy.
Le Petit Souk began in 2005 in Lille, founded by Mathilde Chailloux as a colorful children's shop deliberately different from a conventional toy store - mixing birth gifts, retro-styled toys, playful tableware and decorative objects for kids and adults alike. In 2017 Xavier Marie, founder of home-decor chain Maisons du Monde, joined the venture to help it expand nationally. Since then Le Petit Souk has grown into a chain of more than 80 stores across France, Belgium and Italy, including several Paris arrondissements, alongside its e-commerce site. Its assortment spans newborn essentials, novelty gifts, holiday toys, home decor and women's fashion accessories.
