What Le Temps des Cerises is known for
French denim label founded in Marseille in 1998 by Gilles and Lylian Richardiere, building on the family's 1970s-80s secondhand and denim shops, including Marseille's Propagande. Collections are designed in Marseille studios and manufactured in Tunisia and Morocco from Italian fabric.
Le Temps des Cerises traces its roots to Gilles Richardiere, born in Arles, who moved into clothing reconditioning and opened his first secondhand shops in the 1970s, including the well-known Propagande store in Marseille. In 1998 he and his son Lylian formalized that denim expertise into the Le Temps des Cerises label. The brand has since become one of the most recognized denim names in southern France and the wider Mediterranean, known for a vintage-inspired range with heavy embellishment, embroidery and varied washes. Design work happens in studios in Marseille, while the jeans themselves - cut from premium Italian fabrics - are manufactured in Tunisia and Morocco. Over roughly 25 years the label expanded from its regional base across France and into distribution in Europe, Japan and the United States.
