What Les Georgettes is known for
A reversible-leather jewelry concept launched in 2015, made in the Ardèche's 'Bijou Valley' by Altesse, a Paris jewelry house tracing to 1905, and leather manufacturer Texier; cuffs, earrings and bracelets are held by interchangeable magnetic leather straps.
Les Georgettes' manufacturing lineage goes back to 1905, when craftsman Marius Legros founded a jewelry workshop in the Marais district of Paris; in 1912 the business relocated to Saint-Martin-de-Valamas in the Ardèche valley, a region that developed into a recognized center of French costume and fine jewelry production sometimes called the 'Bijou Valley.' That firm grew into Altesse, a French jewelry manufacturer that today holds the state-recognized 'Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant' (Living Heritage Company) label for craft continuity. In 2015, Altesse partnered with Ardèche-based leather manufacturer Texier — both now under the Renaissance Luxury Group — to launch Les Georgettes, built around a specific mechanical idea: a reversible leather band, secured on a metal jewelry base by two magnetic beads, that lets the wearer swap the leather insert to change the color or texture of a bracelet, cuff, earring or ring without buying a new piece of jewelry. Design work happens in Paris studios, with manufacturing carried out in partner workshops across the Ardèche valley. The brand markets the swappable-strap system as its core differentiator against conventional fixed jewelry, alongside the century-plus manufacturing pedigree behind it.
