Lindex traces its roots to 1954, when Ingemar Boman and Bengt Rosell opened a lingerie shop called Fynd in Alingsas, Sweden, shortly followed by the acquisition of a Gothenburg company called Lindex, whose name was later applied across the growing chain. Through the 1960s the range expanded from lingerie into general womenswear. Today Lindex is headquartered in Gothenburg and covers womenswear, lingerie, kidswear and cosmetics, operating roughly 480 stores with about 5,000 employees across 18 markets. Since 2007 it has been part of the Finnish Stockmann Group.
