What Lloyd is known for

German footwear maker tracing to 1888, when Hermann Friedrich Meyer founded a shoe factory in Bremen; the Lloyd brand name was registered in 1905, and production has run from Sulingen since 1942.

Lloyd's roots go back to 1888, when Hermann Friedrich Meyer established the H. F. Meyer-Schuhfabrik in Bremen, Germany. In 1905 the firm registered a new, internationally friendlier brand name: Lloyd. Production moved to Sulingen in 1942, and after a wartime interruption resumed there in 1946; Lloyd has manufactured from Sulingen ever since. A distinctive red stripe, introduced in 1968, became the brand's signature mark. Today Lloyd remains a German shoemaker known for business and dress footwear at accessible-luxury price points.
