Mancera was founded in Paris in 2008 by Pierre Montale, four years after he launched his eponymous house Montale in 2003. The two brands share a perfumer and a Paris flagship boutique at 68 Rue Pierre Charron, and both work heavily with oud, roses and other Oriental materials at high concentration, but they are distinct labels: Montale draws more directly on Pierre's years in Saudi Arabia, while Mancera was conceived with a lighter, more Art Deco-inflected, contemporary sensibility. Pierre's daughter, Amelie Montale, joined the house and became its artistic director in 2017. All indications found point to Mancera being a French-founded, Paris-headquartered house with no operational or historical connection to Naples.
