Maison Mauboussin was founded in Paris in 1827, and built its reputation through 19th-century world's fair exhibitions, including a medal at the 1878 Paris Exposition and a Grand Prix at the 1925 Exposition des Arts Decoratifs. In 1946 the house moved to 20 Place Vendome, joining fellow jewelers Boucheron, Chaumet and Van Cleef & Arpels. In 1955 Mauboussin opened a boutique selling smaller-scale, less expensive pieces aimed at a broader clientele.
