Nadege Patisserie was founded by Nadege Nourian, a fourth-generation pastry chef born in Lyon, France, together with her husband Morgan McHugh, whom she met while living in London. The first shop opened in July 2009 at 780 Queen Street West in Toronto, across from Trinity Bellwoods Park, and drew early attention from local food critics and bloggers for its brightly colored macarons and elaborately decorated cakes. Over the following years the business expanded to additional Toronto-area locations, including Rosedale, the PATH underground network, the Annex, and Oakville. In 2026 Nourian also opened Chez Nad, a full-service French bistro, extending the business beyond the original patisserie format.
