What Ninaleuca is known for
Salento fashion house founded 2016 by designer Benedetta 'Nina' Rossi in Lecce, Puglia. Local artisans hand-weave stone-washed linen on traditional Salento looms and hand-embroider garments at her atelier off Piazzetta del Duca D'Atene.
Ninaleuca was founded in 2016 by Benedetta 'Nina' Rossi, a Central Saint Martins-trained designer who returned to her native Salento, the southern tip of Puglia, wanting to build a fashion brand rooted in the region's textile traditions. Her atelier sits in Lecce's historic centre, at Piazzetta del Duca D'Atene, and every artisan in the Ninaleuca supply chain works within a 30-kilometre radius of it. The house's core technique is loom-weaving, using 100% pure cotton yarn worked in two or three colour combinations; most of the patterns are hand-drawn by Rossi herself. Pieces are finished with hand embroidery and stone-washed pure linen. The brand's name comes from Punta Leuca, the southernmost cape of Salento.
