Oliver Spencer

Oliver Spencer left art school for a stall in London's Portobello Market, where he developed the tailoring skills that became the basis of his eponymous menswear label, launched in 2002. He had already founded the formalwear brand Favourbrook and started Oliver Spencer as a counterpoint to it — clothing built with tailoring craftsmanship but cut for a more relaxed, modern fit rather than traditional structure. The label's first shop opened on Lamb's Conduit Street in London, and Spencer staged his first runway show in a Covent Garden warehouse in 2005 before expanding into stores across Bloomsbury, Marylebone, Soho, and Shoreditch. The collections center on unstructured suiting, shirts in organic cotton and linen, and knitwear, sourced from British and Italian mills and made in European factories and workshops the brand describes as among the best available for its production standards. Oliver Spencer has since been stocked by department stores including Harvey Nichols and Liberty London, alongside an international online business, and the brand has built a public sustainability program around repair and reuse of its garments.
