That same year, it became the first cosmetics brand certified COSMOS by Ecocert, positioning it among the earliest certified-organic skincare houses. The brand's name plays on the Greek word 'apotheke,' meaning pharmacy, and its origin story reaches back further than its 2002 founding: it credits a 1922 Parisian apothecary with creating an oil called Huile Absolue from plant extracts, a formula the brand says it later rediscovered and built its modern line around. Patyka manufactures its full range in France, holds B Corp certification, and runs 'Institut 58 by Patyka,' offering in-person facial treatments.
