Pikolinos

Spain

What Pikolinos is known for

Spanish footwear brand from Elche, Alicante, founded by Juan Peran - originally a 1978 workshop rebuilt as Pikolinos after a 1984 factory fire - known for handcrafted, vegetable-tanned leather shoes and a store-museum retail format.

Pikolinos traces to 1978, when Juan Peran founded a small shoemaking operation in Elche, a city in Alicante province with a shoemaking tradition dating back to the 18th century. After the original factory burned down in 1984, Peran rebuilt the business under the Pikolinos name, which grew into one of Spain's largest branded footwear manufacturers, eventually selling more than 23 million pairs of shoes across 60 countries. Peran's first retail outlet in the Elche region was designed as a store-museum format, a format the company still highlights via the Museo del Calzado Pikolinos in Elche today. Pikolinos marked its 40th anniversary in 2024.
