Pizzeria Starita is a pizzeria in the Materdei district of Naples, opened in 1901 by Alfonso Starita as a wine cellar that gradually became a fried-food shop and then a pizzeria; it is now run by the fourth generation of the Starita family. It is widely associated with the 1954 film 'L'Oro di Napoli,' in which Sophia Loren's character fries dough in a Naples street-food stall, and the pizzeria's own account describes staff providing logistical support during filming. That said, at least one Naples food publication has directly disputed the connection, arguing the filming actually took place at a different, no-longer-existing shop nearby.
