Poler Stuff was started in Portland, Oregon by Benji Wagner and Kharma Vella, with the concept taking shape from around 2009 and the company formally founded in 2011. It built a following for offbeat, deliberately unglamorous camping gear - most notably the Napsack, a wearable hooded sleeping bag. The company took on venture funding in 2015 to expand, but filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy shortly before Black Friday in 2018. Its brand and assets were subsequently bought for just over $6 million by Pacific & Everest Lifestyle; co-founder Benji Wagner left the business. About a year later, in 2019, Poler relaunched under the new ownership. It currently operates a store at 3557 SE Hawthorne Boulevard in Portland's Southeast neighborhood.
