Sartoria Ciardi

Sartoria Ciardi is a bespoke tailoring house in Naples founded by Renato Ciardi, born in 1934, who began his apprenticeship under Maestro Angelo Blasi in the late 1940s. Ciardi opened his first atelier on Via Toledo in 1955 before later relocating to Via Fiorelli 12, where the house remains based. Renato Ciardi became one of the best-known figures in postwar Neapolitan tailoring, developing a soft-shouldered, lightly structured jacket construction associated with the broader Neapolitan tailoring tradition, distinct from the more padded, structured silhouettes of English or Milanese tailoring. After his death, the sartoria passed to his sons, referred to in different sources as Enzo and Roberto, or Roberto and Vincenzo; one son serves as the house's cutter, a deliberate choice intended to keep a single, consistent hand and silhouette on every garment produced rather than dividing cutting duties among multiple tailors. The house continues to produce fully bespoke jackets, suits and coats using traditional hand construction methods, and is regularly cited in menswear and tailoring press, including detailed reviews from outlets such as Permanent Style, as one of the reference houses for the Neapolitan style associated with the city's postwar tailoring lineage.
