SIUM

SIUM is a small women's fashion label founded in 2000 by designer Regine Steenbock, based in Hamburg's Karolinenviertel, a district known for independent studios and small-batch retail rather than chain stores. Steenbock designs and produces her pieces largely in-house rather than through mass manufacturing, positioning the label around handmade construction and unconventional silhouettes rather than seasonal trend-following. Beyond garments, Steenbock has extended the SIUM name into collaborative art and publishing projects, including 'Chinese Weave,' a book credited to her, and 'BEM-TE-VIE,' a joint project with artists Roxane Borujerdi and Jochen Lempert that blends textile work with photography. The label maintains a webshop and a blog, 'Lands Outside,' through which Steenbock documents projects and cultural references that inform the clothing. SIUM has remained a single-designer operation rather than expanding into a larger label or retail chain, which keeps production volumes small and ties the collections closely to Steenbock's own ongoing art and photography work rather than a conventional seasonal fashion calendar.
