What Soeur is known for

Parisian ready-to-wear label founded in 2007 by sisters Domitille and Angélique Brion, who opened their first boutique at 88 rue Bonaparte in 2008 after Domitille's years styling for children's brands Bonpoint and Bonton.

Soeur was founded in 2007 by sisters Domitille and Angélique Brion, who opened their first boutique at 88 rue Bonaparte in Paris's 6th arrondissement the following year. The label's name is simply the French word for "sister," a direct nod to the two founders' relationship and to their original idea of making clothes a mother and daughter could each want to wear. Domitille came to the project after more than fifteen years as a stylist for the children's wear houses Bonpoint and Bonton, giving her a trained eye for proportion and fabric aimed at younger customers; Angélique took charge of the business and financial side of building the company. The brand initially targeted teenage girls, a segment the sisters — both mothers themselves — felt was underserved by existing labels. It was only after they noticed that the mothers accompanying their daughters into the shop were buying the clothes for themselves that Soeur shifted its focus toward a broader womenswear line spanning several generations, the positioning that has defined the label since.
