Stella Forest

Stella Forest was founded in 1998 by French designer Christel Boniface, who set out to translate her love of travel into ready-to-wear clothing. Drawing on encounters and landscapes from her trips abroad, Boniface built a design language that mixes ethnic patterns, embroidery, and bohemian silhouettes with a Parisian sensibility -- blouses, dresses and knitwear finished with beading or hand-stitched detail rather than mass-printed pattern. The brand's pieces are designed in Paris but produced in part in India, where embroidery work is carried out by hand by artisans using techniques passed down through generations, a production choice tied directly to the label's founding travel-and-craft ethos rather than being outsourced purely for cost. Stella Forest opened its first standalone Parisian boutique in 2004 at 66 Rue Bonaparte, in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district on the Left Bank -- a location that placed it among the neighborhood's concentration of small fashion ateliers and galleries. Since then the label has expanded into a network of more than 100 boutiques across France along with international stockists, while keeping the same core identity: prints and embroidery rooted in travel rather than runway seasons, aimed at a customer who wants directional pattern without formal occasionwear.
