What Thomas Sabo is known for
German jewelry and accessories house founded in 1984 in Lauf an der Pegnitz by Thomas Sabo, a trained precision mechanic; built its name on ear cuffs and charm bracelets, opened its first store in Frankfurt in 1998, and now sells through roughly 1,200 points of sale in some 70 countries.
Thomas Sabo GmbH & Co. KG was founded on 8 May 1984 by Thomas Sabo, a trained precision mechanic, in Lauf an der Pegnitz, Bavaria. The company initially sold imported jewelry from Asia before developing its own collections, working with graphic designer Susanne Kolbli to shape its early aesthetic. Its breakthrough product was an ear cuff inspired by London punk style, which became a widely recognised fashion item and helped establish the brand beyond its regional origins. Thomas Sabo opened its first dedicated retail store in Frankfurt am Main in 1998, and has since built out a global network combining owned stores, e-commerce and retail partners.
