What Vespa is known for
Piaggio's 1946 icon — official Vespa apparel, helmets, and the scooter itself from Pontedera. On seeing D Ascanios MP6 prototype, Enrico Piaggio exclaimed Sembra una vespa! (It looks like a wasp) — the name. Patent filed in Florence 23 April 1946 for a motorcycle with mudguards and a casing covering the mechanical part.
