Vince

Los Angeles, USA

What Vince is known for

Founded in 2002 by Christopher LaPolice and Rea Laccone as a Los Angeles cashmere-sweater label; opened its first retail store on Robertson Boulevard in 2008, added menswear in 2007, and listed on the NYSE in 2013.

Vince was founded in 2002 by Christopher LaPolice and Rea Laccone, who set up a design atelier in Los Angeles built around cashmere sweaters intended as understated, everyday luxury staples rather than statement pieces. The cashmere line proved successful quickly, and the brand expanded into denim for both men and women. Vince introduced a dedicated menswear collection in the fall of 2007, and in spring 2008 opened its first freestanding retail store, on Robertson Boulevard in Los Angeles, translating a wholesale label into a store-based brand. The company grew enough over the following years to file for an initial public offering with the SEC in July 2013, seeking up to $200 million; it began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker VNCE on 22 November 2013. Ownership has since changed hands: in 2023, Authentic Brands Group acquired Vince's intellectual property in a deal valued at $76.5 million, folding the label into its broader portfolio of licensed fashion brands while Vince continued operating its stores and product lines under the same name.
