Yd. launched in Australia in 1995 as an affordable menswear label aimed at younger, style-conscious shoppers, building its range around slim-fit suiting, dress and party/festival shirts, knitwear and outerwear. The brand is now part of Retail Apparel Group, itself wholly owned by the Foschini Group, a South African retail conglomerate that also owns menswear brands such as Politix and Connor. Yd. operates stores across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. In 2022 the brand began rolling out a redesigned store concept - created with design firm Landini Associates - at locations including Highpoint in Melbourne and Eastgardens in Sydney. Yd.'s positioning sits in the mass-market, trend-driven segment of menswear rather than premium tailoring.
