Zamberlan

Calzaturificio Zamberlan was founded in 1929 in Torrebelvicino, at the foot of the Piccole Dolomiti in the Vicenza province, by Giuseppe Zamberlan, a cobbler who set out to improve mountain footwear. He worked with mountaineer Vitale Bramani — who would go on to found Vibram — on developing the rubber lug sole that gave hikers better grip on rough terrain, a collaboration that shaped the sole technology Zamberlan still builds around today. Giuseppe's son Emilio expanded the brand into international markets starting in the 1970s, and the company remains family-run under the third generation, siblings Marco and Maria Zamberlan. Production still uses Norwegian-welted construction, a technique in which the upper, welt, and midsole are stitched together in a way that keeps the sole resoleable, on boots such as the Tofane GTX RR. The current range spans hunting boots (the Adak series), fast hiking shoes (Exotrail GTX), lightweight trekking boots (Devero Low GTX), and Vibram-soled lifestyle boots, most built with Gore-Tex waterproofing. Ninety years after the company's founding, in 2019, Zamberlan marked the anniversary while continuing to make boots at the original Vicenza-area facility.
