What Caroll is known for

Parisian womenswear house founded in 1963 by Raphaël Levy and Joseph Bigio, originally specializing in sweaters; expanded into full ready-to-wear in 1980, opened its own boutiques and listed on the Bourse in 1984 as Caroll International.

Caroll was founded in Paris in 1963 by Raphaël Levy and Joseph Bigio, starting out as a specialist in women's sweaters aimed at a free-spirited, modern customer. The brand broadened into a full ready-to-wear collection in 1980, and by 1984 had opened its own boutiques and listed on the Paris stock exchange under the name Caroll International. In 1988 the company came under the ownership of Groupe André (later part of Vivarte), and in 1994 it consolidated its identity under the 'Caroll Paris' label. Through the 1980s and beyond, Caroll built a strong position in French department stores and became a fixture of mainstream Parisian ready-to-wear, later expanding internationally through boutiques, franchise partners and department-store concessions. The brand's collections today span dresses, trousers, blouses, jackets, coats and accessories, with a positioning the company describes as feminine, modern, timeless and intergenerational — retaining the polished, tailored identity it built over six decades as a French high-street staple.
