Charlie

Charlie Paris was founded in 2014 by two childhood friends, Ambroise Parlos and Adrien Sanglé-Ferrière, while both were still students. The brand launched with a crowdfunding campaign, reportedly the first French watch label to do so, built on a simple brief: timeless designs with singular lines, made in France, sold without the markup of established maisons. Early collections leaned on quartz movements before the founders moved into automatics and tool watches aimed at travelers and divers, including the Concordia dive-watch line. In 2019 Charlie brought watch assembly in-house rather than outsourcing it, a deliberate step to keep more of the production chain inside France. The following year, the label opened a flagship at 53 rue Saint-André-des-Arts in the 6th arrondissement, a space that combines boutique, assembly workshop and offices under one roof, later followed by a second address on rue Sainte-Croix-de-la-Bretonnerie in the 4th. The founders describe the project as an attempt to keep alive France's watchmaking heritage while staying accessible on price, positioning Charlie between mass-market quartz brands and the country's legacy maisons. The name plays on French familiarity — a first name rather than a surname — signaling a more approachable register than the industry's usual eponymous grandeur.
