Etat Pur is one of three brands under NAOS, the French independent beauty group whose flagship, Bioderma, was founded in 1977 in Aix-en-Provence by pharmacist Jean-Noel Thorel; NAOS unified Bioderma, Institut Esthederm and Etat Pur under one corporate umbrella in 2016. Etat Pur's concept is to separate active ingredients from daily care, offering 'Pure Active' serums that each deliver a single targeted compound rather than combining actives into one product. The brand's formulation committee selects from about 300 ingredients it considers proven for purity and efficacy.
