Fear of God

Los Angeles / Online

What Fear of God is known for

Jerry Lorenzo's elevated streetwear — Essentials line, Italian fabrics, and the Los Angeles brand that bridged the gap between streetwear and luxury fashion.

Jerry Lorenzo built Fear of God from Los Angeles in 2013 with no fashion training and total conviction: elevated essentials — elongated tees, drop-crotch sweats, layered flannels — cut from serious fabric and named from his faith. The grunge-meets-Fifth-Avenue proportion he codified became the 2010s' default silhouette; half of what "streetwear" means now traces through his mainline's seven numbered collections.

Essentials, the diffusion launched 2018, became a phenomenon in its own right — logo-embossed neutrals at accessible prices, restocks tracked like sneaker drops. The seventh and eighth collections pushed the mainline decisively into luxury: Italian wools, tailoring, eveningwear in oatmeal and bone, shown at the Hollywood Bowl with a full orchestra.

The adidas partnership — Fear of God Athletics — gave Lorenzo basketball, his first language (he's a former sports-agency man and son of a baseball manager). American luxury's most convincing new house: unhurried, devotional, and dressed in the colors of California light.
