Ghost London

London, UK

What Ghost London is known for

Founded 1984 by Tanya Sarne, known for bias-cut, garment-dyed viscose crepe slip dresses worn by 90s supermodels; won the 1992 British Apparel Export Award. Now owned by Touker Suleyman after a 2016 relaunch.

Ghost was founded in London in 1984 by Tanya Sarne, who had no formal fashion training but identified a gap in the market between high-street and designer clothing. The label became known for viscose crepe, satin and georgette pieces cut on the bias and garment-dyed for a soft, worn-in finish - most famously its slip dresses, worn on the runway by Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss and Helena Christensen. Ghost won the British Apparel Export Award in 1992. Sarne later left the company, and Ghost withdrew from the London Fashion Week schedule in 2006. The brand is now owned by retailer Touker Suleyman, and a 2016 rebrand and relaunch was credited with substantially growing its online revenue.
