What HAVEN is known for
Vancouver menswear retailer founded in Edmonton in 2006 by brothers Arthur and Daniel Chmielewski, opening its Vancouver shop in 2009; curates technical and Japanese labels - Visvim, WTAPS, Neighborhood, Arc'teryx - alongside limited in-house collaborations.
HAVEN was started in 2006 in Edmonton by brothers Arthur and Daniel Chmielewski, both University of Alberta graduates who chose retail over finance careers. The original shop stocked a curated run of labels the brothers admired - Visvim, WTAPS and Neighborhood among them - and built a reputation for carrying niche Japanese streetwear and technical outerwear that was hard to find even in the United States. HAVEN opened its first Vancouver store in 2009. The company, incorporated as HAVEN Apparel Inc., now operates stores in both Vancouver and Toronto plus an online shop, and has been profiled by NUVO and Sharp magazines. It also runs limited co-branded product with partners such as the Montreal running-shoe maker norda and Arc'teryx.
