What Iseya Honten is known for
Founded in the Genroku era as confectioner to Himeji's ruling Sakai clan, Iseya Honten built its name on Tamatsubaki, a pale mochi sweet shaped like a camellia bud that was presented to the Showa Emperor during his 1947 tour of Kansai. The shop still works from Nishi-Nikaimachi in central Himeji, with counters in the city's stations and department stores.
