What Jamin Puech is known for
Paris handbag house founded in 1991 by husband-and-wife designers Benoit Jamin and Isabelle Puech, both previously at established fashion houses. Known for beaded, raffia-trimmed, bohemian-inflected bags; opened its own Marais boutique in 1996.
Jamin Puech was founded in Paris in 1991 by Benoit Jamin and Isabelle Puech, a husband-and-wife design team who met while studying fashion in Paris around 1989. Before striking out on their own, both worked inside established French fashion houses before turning to handbags built around beading, raffia, embroidery and other embellishment techniques drawn from a bohemian, globally inflected aesthetic. The label's early recognition came at the Hyeres international fashion and photography festival, after which Bergdorf Goodman is reported to have bought the pair's entire collection. Jamin Puech opened its own boutique in the Marais district of Paris in 1996.
