What Mac Douglas is known for

Mac Douglas's own brand history places its founding in 1944 (some retail sources cite 1947), when the label began reproducing aviator flight jackets in carefully selected leather - a piece that became its early signature. Its first boutique opened in 1970 on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore in Paris, and the brand built a following among period style figures including, by some accounts, Brigitte Bardot and Steve McQueen. From the 1980s it collaborated with designers such as Anne Marie Beretta, Jean Paul Gaultier and Azzedine Alaia on leather pieces, and in 1995 it launched a dedicated leather-goods line anchored by the Pyla bag. Today Mac Douglas sells leather bags, small leather goods, luggage, footwear and clothing for men and women through its own e-commerce and authorized retailers.
