Papa Palheta

Papa Palheta began in 2009 as, in the company's own words, a small-batch specialty coffee roaster "living off tips collected from strangers-turned-friends in a humble hideout at Hooper Road" — the name Papa Palheta came from that original site. In 2019 the business rebranded to PPP Coffee, a change the company announces directly on its site under the heading "Papa Palheta is now PPP Coffee." Its stated sourcing approach rests on three principles — honesty, traceability, and sustainability — with every batch described as sustainably sourced and roasted in small batches to bring out each lot's specific flavor profile while, in the company's phrasing, "doing justice to the farm and its farmers." Current retail locations operate under the PPP Coffee name: PPP Coffee at New Bahru, PPP Coffee at Funan, and The Annex at Chye Seng Huat Hardware, the company's conserved Art Deco shophouse headquarters in the Jalan Besar district. The rebrand itself is the distinguishing fact worth flagging to a visitor: a store still known informally as Papa Palheta now trades and signs as PPP Coffee, so the original name persists mainly as heritage rather than as the current shopfront identity.
