Mandarin Gallery

Mandarin Gallery is the shopping mall attached to what opened in 1971 as the Mandarin Hotel on Orchard Road, with a second hotel wing completed in 1973. After a S$200 million renovation, the mall reopened in January 2010 as a four-storey retail complex with a glass curtain façade and floor-to-ceiling glass flagship duplex units, distinct from the original hotel-podium retail it replaced. The adjoining hotel has since been rebranded as Hilton Singapore Orchard. The mall's identity is tied directly to that renovation date and hotel pairing — it isn't a standalone shopping centre but a retail component built into a hotel redevelopment, which shaped both its layout (four levels wrapped around the hotel tower) and its positioning toward higher-end fashion tenants such as Michael Kors and Max Mara. That hotel-anchored structure is common along this stretch of Orchard Road, where several malls were built as retail podiums beneath hotel towers rather than as freestanding centres.
